Didim Beaches get Full Marks

Filed under: Altinkum Property News — Property Turkey @ 11:01 am

Beaches around the Didim peninsula have been highlighted as some of the best in Turkey, it was revealed today.

Members of the Turkey Environmental Education Foundation and Ministry of Tourism checked the blue flag beaches around Altinkum – and awarded them full marks.

Some of the best include Altınkum, Dolunay, Club Tarhan, Club Patio and Sahte Cennet beaches.

Because of the high marks scored by the 54 beaches, they are now being cited as being among the best and cleanest public beaches in Turkey.

According to the announcement made by Erol Güngör, Turkey Environmental Education Foundation’s General Director, the number of blue flag beaches in Turkey is 192 and the number of marinas is 14.

There has been a 1500 per cent increase in blue flag beaches and a 56 per cent rise in marinas being awarded blue flag status in Turkey over the past 12 years. Turkey holds the 7th place amongst the 26 countries in Europe and South Africa where the practice is carried out.

Blue Flag is an international environmental award given to the beaches and marinas that carry the necessary standards. It is a symbol of clean and well kept environments. They are also good guides for people looking to book holidays that the local beaches are safe. The awards can be taken away if the criteria is not fulfilled.

The Blue Flag Project is coordinated by the International Foundation for Environmental Education, FEE and the representative for Turkey is Environmental Education Foundation.
